Description

In this section, you can configure the connections to emails that can later be used to send yourself notifications using Action Send e-mail.

Add

When you click on this button, a window will be opened for adding a new connection.

Service name

Under this name, the service will be displayed in the list of available emails and in the Send e-mail action.

The name of the service is the required parameter and must be unique within the program.

Sender name

The text that will be displayed in the sender name column from the recipient.

Email

A full email address from which email will be sent.

Password

Password from email addresses.

Some email providers set a separate password to connect to the email using third-party programs (application password).
Instructions for some programs can be found in the article on this link.

Login to e-mail account

When clicking on the button, the data correctness is checked for connecting to an SMTP server. The correctness of the email login and password is not checked here.

If the data is specified correctly, the notification will appear "Connection successful! The account is ready to use ":

If the program failed to connect to the server, the pop-up window will appear with an error:

In this case, you need to manually configure the connection. To do this, you need to remove the checkbox from the option "Determine Settings automatically" (this setting is described below).

Determine the settings automatically

If this setting is enabled, the program will try automatically selecting the configuration settings to the SMTP server based on the email addresses entered.

If you have an error with the connection, you can enter data to enter manually by removing the checkbox from this setting. You can find connection settings on your email provider website.

Default

When this option is turned on, the current connection will be used as a default connection. This means that the "Send e-mail" cube by default will use this email service.

Do not validate server certificates

Added in ZennoPoster 7.7.0.0

Sometimes when trying to connect your account, you may receive the error "An error occured while attempting to establish an SSL or TLS connection".

This error occurs most often when there is a connection between your computer and the mail server, but it is not possible to establish a secure connection. It happens because the system for some reason cannot verify the validity of SSL/TLS certificates and refuses to establish the connection.

The reason may be anything, for example:

  • Windows, which hasn't been updated for a long time and therefore trusted certificate storage hasn't been updated,

  • antivirus that checks all incoming traffic and has to change the server certificates to decrypt it,

  • firewall.

The solution is clear from the name - you can update Windows, turn off antivirus (especially pay attention to settings checking incoming traffic or checking email), disable the firewall.

If nothing helps, you can enable this setting. In this case, any certificates that the mail server will send when establishing a connection will not be checked and the secure connection will be successfully established.

It is worth noting that if you disable certificate validation, traffic between you and your email provider may be intercepted!

Send test email

To check the correctness of the data entered, you must click on the "Send Test email" button.
At the same time, Zennoposter will try sending a letter to your email using the specified SMTP server and credentials.

If all credentials are true, you will see the status bar "Test email has been sent successfully". After that, the email service is ready for use in a cube.
If the credentials were entered with an error, for example, the wrong password was specified, then you will see the status line "Could not send test email" and in a modal window more detailed error description.

Note

It is worth mentioning the fact that some email providers require an explicit inclusion of access to mail for third-party programs. Connection settings for some providers can be found on this page.
You can find your own settings by searching with your favorite search engine using such query smtp connection settings <YOUR_PROVIDER>, for example - smtp connection settings aol
